Due to low interest during alpha phase of Elements we took poll to see what should be priority. And most of the users are for Components instead of Elements.

Components would be Breakdance elements + code block with custom CSS/JS

These would include some unique sets of things that you may want use on the site like:

• Various animated dark mode toggle like: https://toggles.dev
• Standard dark mode toggle
• Unique set of designs of Table of content

We have opened Alpha testing phase for out elements, and honestly feedback and interest around this does not seem to be high.
We understand that Breakdance has tons of that and we won't match probably element concentric plugin in ecosystem which could explain a lot of things.

Elements vs Components

Elements would be Breakdance elements don via Breakdance studio, while this is neat way to make them, for some ideas we would be limited, probably some of them would be better, faster to make as components.
Also there would be need to make another plugin, and lot of users wants to cutoff this and not install many of them, while it could. Some things like dynamic elements which we have made, could be in future made in Breakdance which is great chance of happening because they have over 120 elements already.
Components on other hand would include code block and existing Breakdance element. These would have benefit that they won't have compatibility issues with future Breakdance update, and we could make many version like 10 designs for dark mode toggle instead one element with few basic options. They would operate like wireframes, you would have them for copy/paste on our site and we could provide greater variation of them compared if they would be done via Breakdance.
